PLAINVIEW — Dr. James D. Anderson is the new Associate Dean of Wayland Baptist University’s Don A. Williams School of Education. An Assistant Professor of Education, he will serve as coordinator of the school’s Principalship and Superintendency programs.
The announcement of Dr. Anderson’s appointment was made by Dr. Cindy McClenagan, Vice President of Academic Affairs, in association with Dr. Sarah Hartman, Dean of the Don A. Williams School of Education.
“Dr. Anderson has had vast experience in the K-12 arena and in working with the Texas Education Agency. As a former assistant superintendent of a very large Texas school district, he will be able to help prepare and mentor our Principal and Superintendent candidates in the Educational Administration program,” said Dr. Hartman. “Dr. Anderson was selected based on his unique experiences in K-12 administration and for his ability to help prepare candidates to take and pass the state content exams for the Principalship certification.”
Dr. Anderson holds a Doctoral of Educational Leadership degree from University of Texas at El Paso and is a graduate of Sul Ross University’s Superintendent Certification Program. At Sul Ross, he also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with certifications in Secondary Mathematics and English as a Second Language. He went on to earn a Master of Education degree in Professional Mid-Management Administrator Certification at Sul Ross with Principal Certification.
The educator comes to Wayland from Lubbock High School, where he has served as a Financial Mathematics teacher. Since 2012, he has been an independent education law and regulatory consultant, collaborating with lawyers and law firms on complex, regulatory, civil, and criminal investigations in state and federal courts. He also has been a real estate agent and real estate instructor with Skye Brokerage since 2014. Dr. Anderson began his education career with the El Paso Independent School District, moving through the ranks from serving as a math teacher and technology coordinator to assistant principal, principal, and assistant superintendent.
Dr. Anderson comes for a family deeply rooted in public education with his father having served as a school superintendent and his mother having served as a middle school teacher. He and his wife have three children.
