PLAINVIEW, TX — Dr. Donna Hedgepath, 14th president of Wayland Baptist University, makes her Amarillo debut Friday, Aug. 30, as one of two featured speakers at the university’s Blue and Gold Social.
Dr. Hedgepath, the first woman to lead the 115-year-old institution, shares the spotlight with 1993 Wayland alumnus Kevin Carter, President and CEO of Amarillo Economic Development Corp. The gathering, sponsored by Wayland Baptist University Alumni Association, begins at 6:30 p.m. at Hoffbrau Steak & Grill House, 7203 W. Interstate 40.
“Amarillo, you don’t want to miss this Blue and Gold Social,” said Jeffrey Vera, Director of Alumni Relations. “Join us for a night of connection and celebration with fellow alumni and friends and featuring these special guest speakers.”
Registration for this limited-seating event is required. The cost is $25 per person until Aug. 16. If seats are still available after Aug. 16, the price goes up to $30 per person. Vera recommends reserving seats now. To register, go to the and fill out the registration form.

Vera said the Amarillo Blue and Gold Social is a perfect opportunity to celebrate Wayland’s heritage while learning more about the great things happening throughout the Wayland system, including the Amarillo campus.
