Inauguration of Dr. Donna Hedgepath as 14th president set for Nov. 18

PLAINVIEW — Wayland Baptist University announces the inauguration of Dr. Donna R. Hedgepath as its 14th president.

The inauguration ceremony takes place at 10 a.m., Nov. 18, 2024, in Harral Memorial Auditorium on Wayland’s Plainview campus. The public is invited to join in this celebration and witness the formal installation as Dr. Hedgepath takes the helm of the university. Attendees can expect inspiring speeches, music, and a reaffirmation of Wayland’s mission to provide a transformative education rooted in Christian principles.

The inauguration ceremony marks the beginning of a new chapter for Wayland Baptist University as Dr. Hedgepath formally assumes leadership, following the retirement of Dr. Bobby Hall in June. Dr. Hedgepath, who brings a dynamic vision and a passion for student success, is poised to lead the university into an era of continued growth, innovation, and service.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Hedgepath as our new president,” said Mark Jones, Chair of the Wayland Baptist University Board of Trustees. “Her commitment to academic excellence, her dedication to faith-based education, and her forward-looking leadership will be instrumental as we continue to honor our proud heritage while embracing new opportunities.”

Dr. Hedgepath’s inauguration ceremony will bring together students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members for a celebration of faith, fellowship, and future aspirations. A distinguished academic leader, Dr. Hedgepath previously served as vice president and provost at Campbellsville University in Kentucky. She is known for her commitment to fostering a Christ-centered academic environment, ensuring that students are equipped for both professional success and also for lives of purpose and integrity.

The entire Wayland family and the greater community is encouraged to attend and be part of this significant milestone.
