POSITION: University Supervisor (Adjunct)

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The University Supervisor serves as the critical connection between the Don A. Williams School of Education and the partnering schools, facilitating a structured and supportive environment for teacher candidates during their clinical teaching experiences.
SPECIFIC TASKS AND DUTIES:
- Observation and Evaluation: Conduct a minimum of four formal observations of teacher candidates per semester (for clinical teaching), each lasting at least 45 minutes. Observations follow the Pre-Observation, Observation, and Post-Observation (POP) cycle to provide detailed, actionable feedback following TTESS guidelines.
- Mentorship and Coaching: Provide targeted support to teacher candidates by reviewing lesson plans, offering feedback, and addressing challenges by providing teacher candidates with reflective discussions and actionable advice following TTESS guidelines.
- Collaborating with Cooperating Teachers: Maintain regular communication with Cooperating teachers to discuss candidates’ progress, identify areas for improvement, and ensure alignment with program expectations.
- Documentation and Reporting: Ensure timely and accurate submission of required documentation, such as—but not limited to—observation reports, evaluation forms, and attendance records. University Supervisor will follow detailed documentation protocols to maintain program accountability and support accreditation efforts.
- Facilitating Communication: Act as a point of contact between the Don A. Williams School of Education Coordinator of Clinical Teaching and Certification Programs, school districts, cooperating teachers, and teacher candidates, ensuring smooth communication and addressing concerns promptly. University Supervisor will emphasize clear communication of program policies and timelines to all stakeholders.
- Professional Development: Engage in ongoing training and professional development to stay informed about current trends in education and supervision practices. WBU encourages University Supervisor to participate in workshops focused on improving their ability to provide effective feedback and mentorship updates on TTESS guidelines. University Supervisors agree to participate in professional development that is required for accreditation and audit compliance.
- Internships: Supervise internships as necessary. Observations follow the Pre-Observation, Observation, and Post-Observation (POP) cycle to provide detailed, actionable feedback following TTESS guidelines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- Earned Masters degree in an education field is required.
- Graduate preparation in Curriculum & Instruction is preferred.
Experience and Knowledge: Preference given to candidates with:
- Minimum of three (3) years of recent successful teaching in a Texas TEA-approved K-12 school is required.
- Special consideration given to applicants who have successful experience with clinical teaching experiences in school districts, college teaching, use of technology in the teaching/learning process, interdisciplinary teaching, and rural and community education, preferably in Texas.
Skills and Abilities:
- Fluency in the English language with excellent writing and speaking skills;
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities with little direct supervision;
- Proficiency with computers, technology, and related educational/classroom equipment;
- A strong interest in leading in the growth and development of undergraduate and graduate students;
- Ability to work collaboratively with University faculty, students, and school district personnel.
- Must be committed to clinical teaching education programs.
- Candidates must be Christian, committed to academic rigor, and willing to invest themselves in the development of students and the School of Education.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Employment is subject to an introductory period to monitor employee performance. If hired, the prospective employee must present documentation within three (3) days of hire date to establish identity and employment eligibility as required by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Employee must be able and willing to travel and provide recruitment assistance to external campuses. Must be able to operate a licensed motor vehicle, have access to a dependable motor vehicle, and possess a valid state driver’s license. Must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record.
