Wayland recognizes 2024 B.E.S.T. Award winner Amy Moss Friday

PLAINVIEW — Wayland alumna Amy Moss receives the 2024 B.E.S.T. Award on Friday, Feb. 7, during the Blue and Gold Banquet that is part of the university’s 2025 Homecoming festivities.

Moss is one of eight distinguished educators selected in October to receive the 2024 Baptist Educators Serving Texans (B.E.S.T.) Award, presented by the Baptist General Convention of Texas (Texas Baptists).

The B.E.S.T. Award honors Baptist educators who live out their faith daily among their students while embodying the mission of the Texas Baptist universities that shaped their journeys. Moss, Director of Choral Activities at Frenship High School and Frenship Independent School District’s Coordinator for Secondary Vocal and Elementary Music, is recognized for her exemplary work in music education as well as her commitment to her students and community.

“This recognition highlights the incredible dedication of Amy Moss and her lasting influence on the students she serves,” said Jeffrey Vera, Director of Alumni Relations and Career Services. “We are proud to honor her during Homecoming and celebrate her achievements alongside her family, friends, and fellow alumni.”

Now in her 18th year of teaching and her eighth at Frenship High School, Moss has made a significant impact on her students and the broader music education community. Under her leadership, the Frenship High School Varsity Chorale was an invited honor choir at the 2022 兔子先生系列麻豆 Texas Music Educators Association Convention—a first in the school’s history. Her ensembles consistently earn Superior ratings at UIL contests and festivals. Moss also serves as the Region 16 Chair-Elect and is an active adjudicator and clinician for regional choirs.

Moss holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Choral Studies from Wayland Baptist University (Summa Cum Laude) and master’s degrees in Music Education and Choral Conducting from Texas Tech University. A lifelong learner, she balances her love for teaching with her passion for education and community service. She is an active member of First Baptist Church in Lubbock, where she contributes to the media and worship teams.

The B.E.S.T. Award was introduced in 2020 to celebrate graduates of Texas Baptist universities who serve in public school education across the state. Each affiliated university selects one graduate annually who exemplifies excellence in education and a commitment to faith-based service.

The Blue and Gold Banquet takes place Feb. 7 at Trinity Sanctuary on Wayland’s Plainview campus.
