Plagiarism Policies

Multidisciplinary Tutorial Services provides a comfortable space for students to talk freely about their writing; however, this does not ensure confidentiality.

In addition to maintaining and upholding the Wayland Baptist University Statement on Plagiarism and Academic Dishonesty, Tutorial Services reserves the right to report suspected plagiarism or other acts of academic dishonesty to the Dean of the appropriate academic school. Instances that merit reporting include, but are not limited to, the following:

 • Students openly discussing intentional plagiarism

 • Students resisting the advice of a tutor to correct an instance of suspected plagiarism, either intentional or unintentional.

 • Students returning for a follow-up appointment to work on a paper that previously contained suspected plagiarism without having attempted to correct the issue.

 • Students presenting work that is clearly not their own.

Any faculty requests for tutorial information concerning suspected plagiarism must be approved by the Dean of the appropriate academic school and sent to the Director of the Multidisciplinary Tutorial Services.

All cases of academic dishonesty such as plagiarism are subject to the procedures outlined in Wayland’s Academic Integrity Policy 8.4.1.
