Director's Message
Hello and welcome to Wayland Baptist University-Anchorage. For more than 100 years (more than 30 years in Alaska), Wayland Baptist University has provided students outstanding education across a wide spectrum of degrees to enhance their lives. I encourage you to consider this incredible opportunity to learn as you seek to mature as a person and to grow intellectually.
Here in Alaska WBU reaches out to a broad cross-section of students, from traditional entering freshmen straight out of high school, to non-traditional students who may have years of experience serving in the military or working in the private and/or public sectors. Our classes and degree programs are tailored to match the different needs of students, and for that reason most of our classes meet during the evenings or on weekends. In addition, there is great flexibility offered by our distance education program. Furthermore, even though WBU is a private university, it maintains a reduced cost of tuition comparable to most state public schools. Not only is WBU very affordable and strongly committed to accommodating student needs, we are equally dedicated to maintaining solid academic teaching. In a recent Wall Street Journal article, Wayland was ranked 4th best in the entire United States for return on investment! Wayland Baptist is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the highest possible level of accreditation in the United States. This is an important factor to consider when seeking employment or transferring credits to other academic programs.
