Yes, you can select a roommate during the housing application process. You’ll have the option to search for a potential roommate or select someone you already know, as long as they have also submitted a housing application. For the pairing to be finalized, both students must mutually select each other and be listed as "confirmed roommates." While we make every effort to accommodate all roommate requests, please note that matches cannot be guaranteed due to limited space and availability.

If you are a new student or first-time resident, we will notify you of your hall and room assignment after July 1, 2025, for fall 2025, and January 1, 2026, for spring 2026. Notifications will be sent to the mailing address on file and your WBU email account.

If you are a new student or first-time resident assigned to an early-arrival sport, we will confirm your participation with your coach. You will be notified of your hall and room assignment after July 1, 2025, for fall 2025, and January 1, 2026, for spring 2026. These notifications will be sent to your WBU email account.

If you are a returning student, you will receive notification of the dorm reopening date by mid-July 2025. Move-in times for fall 2025 and spring 2026 begin at 1:00 PM and conclude at 5:00 PM on the assigned day. If you need to arrive at a different time, please contact the Housing Office during regular business hours or notify your RHS at least 48 hours before your arrival to arrange for staff to meet you.

Students can request changes for Fall terms within their Housing/eRezLife portal until August 1st. After this, due to the number of assignments that must be made and the process involved, all residents will stay in their assigned rooms until the residence halls open. After the halls open, we will work with you to make room and roommate changes, as space allows. You can submit the online room or hall change request form once we have determined our availability for changes. Information regarding this process will be sent to your WBU email account.

How do I select a meal plan and is a meal plan required?

You will select a meal plan in your Housing Application. Students residing on campus are required to purchase a University meal plan (10 Meal Plan (160) minimum). We recommend the All Access Plan. Meal plan prices are for each 16-week term.

There is no refund or adjustment in the amounts due for meals not eaten in the dining hall by the student's own choice.

How can I change my meal plan?

Meal plans may be changed without an exemption through the last class day of the Second week of classes, assuming the student qualifies for the selected meal plan. If the student does not qualify for the selected meal plan due to the established meal plan requirement, they must apply for and be approved through a Meal Plan Exemption.  Exemptions are approved through the Disability Services Office. What are Pete’s Points?

Pete’s Points are prepaid, stored-value account that is part of your Wayland ID Card (your official student ID card). They can be used on campus and is a convenient, cashless way to pay for meals in Pete’s Grill in the University Center.

 What are the cafeteria's hours during a 16-week semester?

• The cafeteria operates during the following hours in a 16-week semester unless otherwise noted on the University Calendar

How can I lower my housing and meal plan expenses?

• Residence halls are priced at various levels in an effort to meet the needs of all students. Students should select halls based on what they can afford. At times a student selects a hall through the application process and is assigned to that hall before realizing that s/he does not have the finances to live in that hall. Each semester, Residential Living helps students in this situation, which might include moving the student to a less expensive hall.

 What happens if I decide not to attend?

• For returning students, a written request has to be submitted to the student housing office for processing. A written cancellation notice is required prior to August 1 for the fall semester, prior to December 1 for the spring semester, and prior to April 1 for the summer session for full refund eligibility. For first-time students, a notice of cancellation has to be received prior to the first day of classes for full refund eligibility. Prorated refunds are eligible after these dates based on the university refund policy 3.2.4.

When do I get my housing deposit back?

• When you check out of the halls for the final time, you will fill out paperwork enabling you to have your deposit partially refunded. As long as a resident qualifies to live off campus and doesn't have any disciplinary holds, hasn't damaged property, checks out properly, cleans the room, and cancels before the cancellation deadlines, they are eligible for a partial refund of their housing deposit within 6-8 weeks after the cancellation request is approved.
• If a resident moves out of the dormitory during the semester and defaults on the housing contract, the deposit is forfeited.

What if I want a Private Room?

• Private Rooms are assigned as availability allows. All residents will be assigned roommates based on answers from the Housing Application. Private Rooms fees are charged as of Census Day each 16-week term to anyone in a room without a roommate. Private Rooms are not guaranteed from one term to the next. Wayland reserves the right to assign roommates without prior notice as listed in your Occupancy License Agreement in the Housing Application.

What if I have or need an Accommodation for the dorm?

• The WBU Student Disability Services office provides assistance and accommodations to students with disabilities.

  Wayland is committed to providing all students with equal access to quality education. In addition to serving as an advocate for students with disabilities, our office also works closely with faculty and staff members in order to monitor students' progress and encourage a positive educational experience.

What type of security exists in the residence halls?

• We make every effort to create a safe living environment for all residents. Our residence halls are equipped with an electronic card access system to provide monitored access to the halls. The card access system is in place 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Students gain access to their residence hall by swiping their WBU ID Card (student ID card) on the card reader located outside of each building.
• All traditional residence halls are equipped with surveillance cameras, and each is equipped with a camera monitoring system reviewed by trained staff daily.
• The 兔子先生系列麻豆 Department (UPD) and Plainview PD patrol the campus daily, conducting rounds in our residence halls regularly day and night.  Our staff works closely with UPD to maintain a secure living environment.
• Our best resource for security in the residence hall is our residents!  Our staff is trained to monitor and report various safety concerns. Emergency procedures are addressed each semester with the residents. Students are encouraged to lock their doors when they're away from their rooms, prevent tailgating into the hall (letting someone follow you into the entrance without swiping their WBU Card), and report any suspicious activity to residence hall staff and/or UPD.

Are there laundry facilities available in the residence halls, and how much does laundry cost?

• Laundry is provided in each building. Only residents of the hall are permitted to use laundry machines. Laundry machines are for resident's personal use only. 
• Laundry is app-based so you will not need quarters. Dorm Residents will pay a $50 fee for each 16-week term for a set number of loads. If you need more loads, you pay through the app. Student Family Housing residents pay $1.50 per wash/dry load.
• Instructions for downloading and using the app are sent out to each resident at the start of each 16-week term and posted in each laundry room.
• Residents will provide laundry detergent and softeners to clean their belongings.

Are there community kitchens in all residence halls?

• Community kitchens are available in Davis, Ferguson, and Owen Hall, with amenities varying by hall. These spaces are shared by all residents and are a collective responsibility.

•  

  To ensure the kitchens remain clean and functional for everyone, residents are expected to maintain them. Failure to do so may result in consequences, including restricted access or additional cleaning fees.

Are dishes provided in community kitchens?

• Any available community kitchens have cookware available for student use. Dishes (i.e. plates, bowls, utensils) are not available in all locations, so it is recommended to bring your own.

Are my belongings covered by WBU insurance?

• No. We recommend you get renter's insurance to cover personal belongings. One provider that specializes in College Student Personal Property Insurance is   Click the link to go to their website.

Who is in charge of the residence hall?

• Each residence hall houses a Residence Hall Supervisor (RHS) and 5-12 Resident Assistants. Supervisors are University Employees who live in the building and are responsible for the operation of the hall. The RHS is responsible for supervising hall staff, daily management, and reporting maintenance requests. Resident Assistants are student staff that live among the residents and they are responsible for creating programming and peer counseling in their living areas. The hall staff assists students 24 hours a day.

What am I responsible for cleaning in the dorm?

• Residents are responsible for cleaning their assigned space regularly.  We recommend a weekly cleaning schedule to maximize health and safety benefits while minimizing cleaning time.
• Most assigned dorm spaces include the bed area, desk, dresser, closet, and bathroom.
  • Here are some tips for maintaining a clean bathroom
• Caprock Hall and Davis Hall have separate common living areas that should be cleaned by all assigned residents.
• Ferguson Hall has bathrooms on the hall that are maintained by housekeeping staff.

What would I do if I got locked out of the residence halls at night?

• A night duty staff member is on call Monday through Thursday nights from 9 p.m. until 8 a.m., and on weekends, a staff member is on call from 1 p.m. on Friday until 8 a.m. on Monday. For students requiring daytime assistance during the week, daytime desk hours vary by hall.

If I have problems in my residence hall, what should I do?

• You are encouraged to contact the Resident Assistant or Residence Hall Supervisor in your hall. These individuals will be able to assist you. If you need additional information, you are welcome to contact the Housing Office and we will assist you in finding answers or solving problems.

Can I stay in the halls over the holiday break?

• Students are permitted to stay in the residence halls during certain holidays for a fee of $140 per week. Please note that charges cannot be prorated below the weekly rate.

•  

  All students staying over a break must sign up in the Housing Office. There is no charge to stay in the halls during Thanksgiving, Easter, or Spring Break. However, students staying over Christmas Break or between semesters will be required to pay the fee in advance, as these periods are not included in the standard semester housing rate.

•  

  Students should also be aware that they may need to relocate to a designated residence hall for the duration of the break. For details about Cafeteria operations during breaks, please refer to the Academic Calendar.

• All students living on campus can be issued a post office box. To obtain a box and key, visit the on-campus post office located on the first floor of the McClung University Center, or call 806-291-3619 for more information.

  Packages arriving via courier (UPS, FedEx, DHL) are typically delivered to Central Supply and can be picked up during the following hours:

  • Monday – Thursday: 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
  • Friday: 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

  Packages are usually available 24 hours after being received. Students must present a valid ID and/or their CMB key to sign out for their package.

• Yes, you can have a vehicle on campus. Any vehicle parked on campus is required to have a parking permit. Permits can be collected through the 兔子先生系列麻豆 Department or the Housing Office in UC 203.

Can I park my vehicle on campus without a parking permit?

• Permits are required on all vehicles parked on campus 24 hours per day. For more information about parking permits, visit the 兔子先生系列麻豆 Department in Pioneer Hall.

How much does a parking permit cost?

• Parking permits are free to residential and commuter students.

How long does a permit last?

• Permits are valid from August 1st, or the date of issue, until July 31st of an Academic Year.  The expiration date is on the window decal.

Where can I park on campus?

• There are designated parking spots or "zones" on campus. 
  • Tags designated "C" are for Commuter students
  • Tags designated "D" are for Dorm Residents

Am I required to live on campus?

• Wayland’s housing policy states that unmarried students enrolled for 7 or more hours must live in a residence hall and take meals in the university dining hall unless a student is 23 years old, is classified as a senior (90 or more credit hours), or is a commuting student living in with relatives in the area.
• This applies to the Plainview Campus only.

What is the $100 Dorm Deposit and do I have to pay it?

• All students must have a room deposit on account in the business office before moving into a residence hall. This deposit is partially refundable upon the student's completion of checkout procedures. This deposit is not transferable to university-owned off-campus housing. The deposit is applied to the student's account if the student owes any money or if room damages have been incurred during university residence at checkout.
• Damages or fines above the $100 deposit are applied to the student's account.
• Students who apply for and are assigned a residence hall room and choose to not attend the university must request a refund of the deposit prior to August 1, if the application is for a fall semester, and prior to December 1, if the application is for a spring semester.

I have earned my Associate's Degree. Do I still have to live on campus?

• Yes. The University's housing requirement is not based on degrees earned. If you fall under the University's housing requirement, you will then need to complete a housing application to live on campus. WBU Housing Application

Are there exemptions to the housing requirement?

•  "Living with Parent" exemptions are the most common exemption and are available to students living at home within Floyd, Hale, Lamb, Lubbock, or Swisher counties.  Students who fail to comply with the housing requirement will have housing charges placed on their student account. If you anticipate applying for an exemption, please do so as early as possible to avoid processing delays and charges. WBU Housing Application

What rules do I have to follow if I live on campus?

• As a residential student, you are expected to know and understand the rules that govern Residential Living and the larger University community, located within the WBU Student Handbook and the Guide to Campus Housing. These are updated at the beginning of each Academic Year and are subject to change without notice. The information in these documents is an extension of your contract with the WBU Housing Office and Wayland Baptist University.  Before moving into a residence hall, a student is required to sign a residence hall contract. Signing of the residence hall contract implies acceptance of student responsibilities as outlined in university publications and by university officials.

When do I need to complete my Off-Campus Request?

• Your request must be completed by August 1^st for fall term enrollment and January 1^st for spring term enrollment. WBU Housing Application

Is there any additional paperwork to complete with an Off-Campus Request?

• Yes. You will need to supply additional documentation based on your exemption request. We require a marriage certificate, court documentation showing legal custody of a minor child, or a notarized copy of proof of residency with a parent before university due dates.

• The only animal we permit in the residence halls, other than an approved service animal, is a fish.  You are allowed to have a (1) fish in a bowl of up to 2 gallons. Any other animal must be approved through Disability Services prior to coming to campus with the animal.
