Graduate Assistant Coach of Softball

Location: Wayland Baptist University WBU (Plainview campus)

Office:  Intercollegiate Athletics

Supervised by: Athletic Director and Head Coach of Softball

Positions Supervised:  Student Managers and Student Assistants

General Responsibilities:  The Graduate Assistant Coach of Softball would be responsible for assisting with all aspects of the WBU softball program.

Specific Task and Duties:

  1. A commitment to a Christian lifestyle and coaching from a Christian perspective is essential.
  2. In coordination with Head Coach and Assistant Coach, facilitating a program culture of trust and team work.
  3. Adhering to all policies and procedures of NAIA, the SAC, and WBU.
  4. Assisting in setting up and running practices.
  5. Facilitating practices.
  6. Administrating arrangements for scheduling use of facilities and vehicles through the Athletic Director and Executive Director of Property Management.
  7. Helping to coordinate the recruitment of student-athletes who have the ability and potential athletically and academically.

Education:

1.Bachelor Degree required

Experience and Knowledge:

1.Playing background/experience preferred.

2.Knowledge and understanding of women’s softball

3.Knowledge of position specific skills and techniques

4.Continued learning and training mechanics, skills and drills

5.Knowledge of NAIA and SAC regulations and guidelines governing the recruitment and retention of student-athletes.

Skills/Abilities:

1.Ability to communicate effectively with all personnel involved in the collegiate environment from student-athletes to administrators.

2.Ability to coordinate and guide student-athletes.

3.Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgements.

4.Ability to understand and enforce safety protocol.

5.Possess strong communication skills as related to PC and orally with all personnel as related to the university.

Working Conditions:

  1. Work involves moderate physical activity in wide-ranging weather conditions.
  2. Modeling techniques and skills requiring moderate mobility and flexibility and lifting.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Employment is subject to an introductory period to monitor employee performance.   If hired, the prospective employee must present documentation within three (3) days of hire date to establish identity and employment eligibility as required by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).  Employee must be able and willing to travel and provide recruitment assistance to external campuses.  Must be able to operate a licensed motor vehicle, have access to a dependable motor vehicle, and possess a valid state driver’s license.  Must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record.
